St. John's

Parish of Killyleagh

Welcome Reaching Out

Mission

Rwanda

For the past 3 years our Parish has helped a family, the head of which is totally blind.  They have 4 children and 2 adopted.  We purchased approximately 2.5 acres of farmland for them.  The land has some banana and cassava plantations, which meet the family's food sufficiency, as well as providing work for the mother and children.  Our funding has helped see their mud-wall built house replaced by a brick-wall construction.  The house is away from dangerous border areas and close to both a Church, a school and medical amenities.  The move for them was not just another relocation but a real transformation.

Also in the last year, a gift to Kayonza Parish has helped them to build their Church.  Killyleagh YC Football Club donated 2 footballs and T-shirts to a youth group.

Killyleagh Drop-In Centre

For a number of years our Parish, like our Presbyterian neighbours,  has given financial support to the town's Drop-in Centre.  Through the tireless efforts of Angela Teggart and her assistants, this Centre is making a significant spiritual difference to the local youth - find out more >>> The Cross - Drop-In Centre, Killyleagh

Crosslinks

Crosslinks is a mission agency working mainly within the Anglican Communion.  It was founded in 1922 and formerly known as The Bible Churchmen's Missionarry Society with a motto taken from Revelation 1:9 "For the Word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ".

In our Parish the loose collection given at Family Services is sent to Crosslinks.  In addition, the collection given during Holy Week 2002 was sent to a Crosslinks project in Tanzania.
