Reflections - Trust In God

Every time I travel on an airplane, which is on average about 3 times a week I think about a trip I once made around the Rolls-Royce aero engine plant.  I remember being impressed by the high tech. machinery and the skill of the operatives and was feeling that each time I flew in future I’d be feeling more secure having seen how the engines were made.  This security was shattered when I discovered that an aero engine is attached to the plane by NINE bolts.  OK, they are long bolts, but there are still only nine of them.  It never stopped me flying, I just check the engine is still there!  I put my trust in the people in Rolls-Royce and the Airline to do their job right, even though I’ve never met or seen them

How much more then should I put my trust in God who made heaven and earth and everything in it.  I see his handiwork all around me both when I fly and when I’m on the ground.  My trust in God gives me the confidence to fly as I know that this life is a temporary one, only a small part of the eternity we spend with God.  The saying of Jesus “I go there to prepare a place for you, if it were not so I would have told you” is a promise on which my belief is based.

I know where I’m going to spend eternity.  I trust you do too.
